Opening Event: 20 Years of Barnes Crossing – JUBEL!

For several years now, Oliver Stroemer has been regularly photographing artists and companies in the fields of dance and performance art at the Barnes Crossing production house.

This exhibition—which also marks the opening of the 20th-anniversary program celebrating 20 years of Barnes Crossing—presents a personal selection of his work.

It offers a unique glimpse into what happens on and behind the stage, into rehearsal processes, and into special moments of collaboration within the emerging dance and performance productions.

Most of the time, Willi the raccoon and Laila the owl are very comfortable in their forest home, and they have been good friends for a long time.
And yet there’s always something to decide all day long: who gets to play the drum, that’s my apple, where are the wellies again, stop strumming, is there lunch now, you don’t know what you want anyway, but you already had the little guitar yesterday and you always know everything better…
Laila and Willi find joy in their own voices and self-determination between not-right-at-all and right-at-all. And, of course, they find out how to make decisions together.

Summarized in adult language:
Owl and Raccoon play around the children’s right to participation and use lots of music and humor to educate daycare children about democracy.

A poetic play about growing up, transformation and the search for one’s place in the world.

Meet Gargadenia, a curious girl who, like Alice in Wonderland, stumbles into a mysterious and surprising world of nature. Like the flowers around her, she wants to put down roots and find her place. But what does it really take to conquer a strange world?

BLOOOM is a delicate journey full of poetry, fantasy and surprising encounters. The play is about the power of enchantment and the magic of new beginnings. With captivating images and a touch of absurd humour, BLOOOM invites the audience to find themselves on Gargadenia’s journey. It is a play about growing up in uncertain times, balancing on uneven ground and how we can always put down new roots.

An invitation to enter unknown territory with light luggage and discover the wonder of growing up.

Age: 5 to 10 years

Duration: 50 minutes

“[E]MOTIONS”

Friday, March 20, 2026, 7:00 p.m.

The youth ensemble CIELetTERRE, directed by Charline von Fragstein, will be performing at Barnes Crossing.

In the piece [E]MOTIONS, the five dancers explore different feelings and emotions. All feelings are valid, all feelings are allowed, and there is a place for all feelings, which the group creates on stage through choreography and improvisation.

The CielEtTerre ensemble stands for strength, self-confidence, and cohesion. “In our training and pieces, we deal with everyday challenges and currently relevant topics. We use dance to process our experiences and impressions and to support and inspire each other. We dance with our hearts and play with emotions to let go of our worries and problems and feel free.”
