With ‘conSEQUENCE in space’, the DIN A 13 dance company, under the artistic direction of Gerda König, presents a contemporary dance production featuring dancers with and without disabilities. The piece is a poetic yet radical exploration of space, perception and the question of how we find our bearings – within our own bodies, in relation to others and in a world where certainties are increasingly being called into question.

A space within a space.

A palpable sense of reduction fills the dark space.

Two dancers move between curiosity and uncertainty.

Traces become audible – and dissolve once more, in the very same moment, into the silence of their movements.

A fragile tension between space, the body and the consequences of every single decision.

What happens when orientation disappears? When space offers no direction, recognises no hierarchies and provides no certainties?

conSEQUENCE in space sets out in search of the moments in which movement emerges anew. In a radically reduced stage space, two bodies encounter one another without any predetermined order. Every step, every change of direction and every encounter becomes a conscious decision. The empty space becomes a resonant chamber for perception, intuition and relationship.

The choreography views reduction not as a sacrifice, but as an opportunity to focus on the essential. Familiar systems of orientation recede into the background, opening up new forms of physical presence and communication.

What does movement sound like when every decision allows the space to emerge anew?

What relationships arise when orientation is not predetermined, but emerges in the moment of movement?

What happens to a body when the void begins to fill the space?

A key creative element is Frank Schulte’s live sound and acoustic concept. Movements generate sounds; the body itself becomes an instrument. Dance becomes not only visible, but audible. This creates an additional sensory layer that expands the performers’ physical experience whilst simultaneously opening up new avenues for blind and visually impaired audience members.

As in all works by the DIN A 13 tanzcompany, inclusion is not understood as a theme, but as an artistic practice. Diverse bodies and qualities of movement open up new choreographic perspectives and expand the possibilities of what dance can be.

sur-facing II – a dance intervention at Ebertplatz, Cologne

Friday, 25 September 2026, 12 noon and 3 pm – Premiere

Saturday, 3 October 2026, 12 noon and 3 pm

The site-specific dance performance sur-facing II by cie.nomoreless explores, drawing on the complex dynamics of Ebertplatz, the interplay and tension between visibility and invisibility, rapprochement and polarisation, and art and everyday life. The ensemble, comprising more than twenty performers with and without disabilities, of varying ages and levels of dance experience, engages directly with the flow of movement, the social environment and the architecture of Ebertplatz, developing a choreographic structure that oscillates between dance intervention and urban life.

sur-facing II deliberately opens up to the urban space: passers-by become part of the situations, and the boundaries between audience and art become blurred – the spectators help to shape the moment. New forms of coexistence are explored, routines are disrupted, and artistic processes are made visible.

Dance and Paint! Instant composition with dance and painting

Dance and Paint! Instant composition with dance and painting

Saturday, 31 October 2026, 5.00 pm – 7.00 pm

Alert and curious, playful and precise – this is how the magic of the moment is created: Instant composition.

Through the combination of dance and painting, an inspiring evening unfolds in which the various artistic languages interweave, layer, fold, challenge one another and continually surprise and reinvent themselves.
This evening is explicitly not a ‘classical’ performance but an invitation to get involved yourself or to watch as the creative process unfolds in the very moment.
In doing so, we explore through improvisation – in ever-changing constellations and over varying durations – both the communication between the dancers and performing artists and the interaction with the visual artists.

Dear dancers and painters: Come along and dance with us, or paint with us, or watch us dance and paint, or simply switch from one to the other!
And please bring whatever you need. We’ll be setting up a framework with both structured and free-form improvisation, and we’re looking forward to exchanging ideas with you. Please register with us by 28 October 2026 if you’d like to take part by dancing and/or painting. That way, we can prepare everything to suit your needs.

Dear audience: Throughout the evening, you’re free to choose new spots whenever you like, both to discover fresh perspectives on dance improvisation and to experience the various artists at work up close. Just pop along – you don’t need to prepare anything; we simply ask that you register to help us plan better (though spontaneous guests are also very welcome).

After the ‘Tanz Mal!’ sessions, we’ll round off the evening with a warm soup; what you’ve experienced, seen, learnt, danced and painted can all sink in at your own pace.

The paintings and sketches created during the evening will be exhibited on Sunday 1 November 2026 [feel free to link to the other event page!] as part of the Wachsfabrik’s Art Sunday.

Please register or direct any enquiries to Andrea Lucas on 0163-9719837
