“Before it becomes the future” – a dance theater in five pictures
Worries about the future, the isolation of the individual, social divisions and a changed political climate determine our attitude to life today. But are these really only topics of our present time or do we rather live
or do we not rather live in a repeating and continuously changing history?
The piece looks into our past through dance and takes us back to the 1920s, 1950s and 1990s in search of answers.
In doing so, we question the images we have of these eras, taking personal moments and situations to get close to the real underlying constitutions and emotions.
Where might we go from here? What do we need to understand in the past and in the present to be able to change something? What kind of future do we want? “Before it becomes future” is a dance theater in
fragments from the past, present and future correspond with each other.
correspond with each other. Characters and their stories meet, tell of fears and longings, lack of relationships and the search for togetherness – today and in other times. The
piece traces the connection between the past and the present in order to give space to our questions about the future.
