“I am nothing, I am everything”, – he declared. “The street is my mother. The sun is my father. What more can I ask from life?” (Alain Mabanckou, “The Lights of Pointe-Noire”)

In absence#4 the Compagnie Jacques Bana Yanga (Dem. Rep. Congo) and IPtanz (Germany) meet in a dance dialogue. Two cultures, two social systems, each starting from its own principles and conditions for vital aspects of reliability and security. Each with its own history of violence, upheaval and destruction. The world knows no status quo. Against the backdrop of global events, both companies research body images, invent a language of movement, 6 dancers in dialogue with their respective cultural imprint, determined by the search for the reformulation of values and the concern about a dystopian future.

The walk-in dance installation absence#4 invites the audience into a scenographic dance architecture between stability and collapse.

A physical-sensory introduction format, as well as a touch tour prior to the performances on Sept. 8 and 10, and an audio description complement the performance. Seat reservations required due to limited audience size, especially for the audio description.
