hush shows different facets of the topic silence in an installative dance performance. Gitta Roser and team negotiate the themes of silence and the politics of silence in a physical, visual and acoustic polyphony with three performers with and without disabilities, a sound artist and a video artist.
Situational constellations are created in which movement confronts stasis, the raised voice confronts silence, and the inner confronts the outer. At the transitions between opposing poles, stories of bodies crystallize, which also bring political questions into play with the power of the unsaid and the power of the word-ban.
To complement the performance, the artist:s create three spatial installations that rethink the spaces of the Barnes Crossing venue. Before and after the performances, the audience is invited to linger in a nature foyer, a reading room, and an audio room where interview excerpts on the themes can be heard.
Gitta Roser also explores means of accessibility artistically: for example, the audio description not only serves to provide accessibility for blind and visually impaired people in the performance, but also becomes artistic vocabulary. Different levels of sensory perception are opened up. In addition, a tactile tour is offered before each performance, in which people with and without visual impairments can participate.
