In an evening of short works using movement, voice, and pre-recorded sound, gemneye explore what happens within and between bodies using the analogue tools of the imagination and the voice, and the digital tools of microphones, speakers and various soft and hardware devices.
gemneye stretch the concept of the technological body and create distorted rumblings, extreme frequencies, and droning silences, looking for an (in)dependent co-existence and the necessary dialogue between the audible and the visible, the seen, the heard and the felt.
Each of the works is based on gemneye’s current artistic practice which integrates Irina’s Choreographic Methodology, ATE, with Emily’s physical and vocal research into sounds produced by being “in touch” with nonhuman bodies. “re/membering ” is an exploration into the porousness of the human and the nonhuman through movement, vibration and frequency.
