It is smoothened out into a frictionless exchange of information. Smooth communication is free from any negativity of the other or alien. Communication reaches its maximum speed where like reacts to like.” – “Saving beauty” by Byung-Chul Han

A UNIVERSAL POSITIVITY is a humorous and ironic approach to the topic of positivity in our society and is inspired by the book “Saving Beauty” by Byung-Chul Han.
The plot takes place in a presumed TV show setting, a space where two people can play out their most obvious and also “apparent” positive and emotional charisma with and to each other!
Meanwhile, negativity emerges as the constant twin brother of positivity, which comes out more and more in this piece and is exposed through its emotionality and an accompanying attitude in which the “smooth” (the smooth) becomes impolite, senseless and rude and the body becomes a “counter-body”.

A UNIVERSAL POSITIVITY is the sixth part of the UNIVERSAL series of pieces. All the works in this series deal with the effects of social systems of power on human bodies.
SPECIES is a dance company with a working focus in Cologne that creates works for moving bodies.
