13. SoloDuo Festival NRW + friends (scroll drown for German)

International dance festival Cologne, May 21 st – 23 rd 2021

DEADLINE: Monday, December 21 st 2020

For the 13 th time, Barnes Crossing – Space for Dance|Performance|Fine Arts in Cologne hosts the

annual festival SoloDuo NRW + Friends . The winners of the respective prizes of the festival will

be invited to the 23 rd International SzólóDuó Tánc Fesztivál of Budapest in January 2022. In

addition, 2 awarded productions will be invited to the 29 th Almada International Dance Festival

in Portugal, in October 2021.

APPLICATION:

Solo choreography (max. length 6 min.) and duo choreography (max. length 9 min.)

There is no age limit and no minimum length of the pieces. Renowned choreographers as well as

newcomers in the independent dance scene are invited to take part in this international

competition. After a pre-selection the artistic directors will invite maximum 22 productions to

perform in the festival program. Members of the international jury will lead a roundtable

discussion offering valuable feedback to the participating dance artists. The international jury

will award prizes (donated by the Kunstsalon Stiftung) for A warded Solo , A warded Duo , A warded

Solo Newcomer , A warded Duo Newcomer and A warded Performer.

COVERED BY THE FESTIVAL:

We cover accommodation at the festival hostel plus half-board and cover the travel costs

(details see application form). Each performance will have a 30 min. light rehearsal by our

festival lighting technician (basic + 1 special for each production). The festival offers photo and

full-length video documentation of the performances for free. In addition, participation in all

workshops is free of charge. A fee cannot be refunded.
