We artists of BARNES CROSSING Freiraum für TanzPerformanceKunst deal with contemporary dance as a form of expression and knowledge. In addition to their artistic work, some of our members also focus on dance education projects in cultural education. Programmatically, BARNES CROSSING concentrates on the diversity of dance, also in connection with other art forms. We test and develop an aesthetic examination both through projects in our production and event location in the Wachsfabrik in the south of Cologne and “off-site” in a wide variety of mediation projects in and around Cologne. Contexts in which we artists represent and mediate the position and language of art – whether on a classical stage or in everyday life in publicly accessible places.
Our network consists of mixed abled choreographers and our production facility is wheelchair accessible.
Important partners in our work are Tanzvermittlung NRW and the Bundesverband Tanz in Schule. Barnes Crossing is also represented on Musenkuss – platform for cultural education in Cologne.
Barnes Crossing began initiating formats of mediation in 2007 under the artistic direction of Sonia Franken. The team has now expanded: in the following TANZKOMPLIZEN publication series we present our members and their dance mediation projects. Click on the images to open the brochure as PDF.
